Raquel Garza spoke about her role with Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent board office as a Student Hireability Navigator and how programs they have can benefit both area employers and young adults by creating meaningful partnerships.

Tania French

After 10 years as Editor and Publisher of The Port Lavaca Wave, Tania French recently started a new chapter in her career as president
of Something More Media, Inc. a full service marketing, management and technical services company that helps small newspapers and
businesses implement digital products and services into their business models.

Active in the community, French serves as the Port Lavaca events committee chair. The Port Lavaca events committee spearheads Iguana Fest, Bayfront Beats, Star Spangled Bay Bash, Christmas events, Port Lavaca’s signature Flip Flop Festival and other events in the community. French was born in Nebraska and grew up in the Dallas area. She attended
the University of Texas at Dallas and Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, and holds degrees in Business, Communications, and
Religion.

French is past president of the Texas Gulf Coast Press Association and the South Texas Press Association and served on the Texas
Press Association board of directors. She serves as treasurer for Calhoun County Crime Stoppers. French is married to Mac Sistrunk and has three daughters, Stephanie, Schelly and Ashley.

Raquel Garza

Raquel Garza is a native of Port Lavaca; she attended the University of the Incarnate Word obtaining a Bachelors in Business and Masters
in Organizational Development. Upon graduation she relocated back to the Golden Crescent region and is now married to Kenneth Garza;
she and Kenneth have 3 children: Nikolas, Blaise, and Isabel. She is a member of the Junior League of Victoria, Victoria Adult Literacy Council, and Our Lady of Victory’s Mothers of Grace. Raquel’s passion for development has taken her to a new career within the Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent board office as a Student Hireability Navigator; she has a strong desire in seeing our youth develop into becoming successful employable adults.
