Rotary International Theme: Basic Education & Literacy
More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. That’s 17 percent of the world’s adult population.
Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy. We support education for all children and literacy for children and adults.
My granddaughter, Emma Herko, just scored the her first goal for the Drexel women’s soccer team. She’s a freshman, playing in her third game. Below is some information on the game and a picture.

PHILADELPHIA — Two second half goals from Emma Herko and Liv Brocious helped lift the Dragons past Saint Joseph's, 2-0, on Thursday night. Elise Duffy assisted on both tallies to match a career high, while Sammy Widnick earned her first career shutout.
This marked just the second win over the Hawks in program history, and the second straight at home. Drexel secures their first win of the 2025 campaign and improves to 1-0-2 on the season.
The Dragons controlled the match on both sides of the field, outshooting the Hawks 22-3. The DU defense held SJU to zero shots on goal.
After a scoreless first half, the Dragons struck in the 50th minute. Elise Duffy found Liv Brocious in front of the box, who put it away with the left boot for her first goal of the season.
Freshman Emma Herko scored the first goal of her career at the 68 minute mark. Jess Castorina booted the ball from outside 18 meters to find Duffy at the penalty mark. The senior placed it up perfectly for Herko who fired it through the bottom left corner of the net.
