Andy Hagan is an active member of the Rotary Club of Brownsville Sunrise having joined Rotary in 1995.  He currently serves as an Assistant Rotary Coordinator (ARC) for Region 36 Zones 25B & 29 supporting several Rotary Districts throughout Texas with emphasis on promoting and growing Rotary.  Andy is also our District’s New Club Champion and serves at the pleasure of our District Governor to promote and support the creation of new Rotary, Rotaract, and Interact clubs thereby increasing prospective members’ access to Rotary and our capacity to serve more local communities.  He is member of our District’s Membership team, our newly piloted District Club Visioning team, and is the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) chairman.  He served as District Governor in Rotary year 2018-2019.

Andy has been recognized as our District’s Rotarian of the Year multiple times and is a recipient of The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service and the Rotary International Cliff Dochterman Award for his service and leadership in Scouting.

Andrew and Elsa, his loving wife of 35 years who recently joined Rotary share a passion for “Doing Good in the World” by supporting The Rotary Foundation.  He and Elsa are Major Donors, Paul Harris Society members, and recently joined the White Hat Society having contributed over $5,000 dollars to The Rotary Foundation this year.  Andy and Elsa including their family members are Paul Harris Fellows and Bequest Society members having included The Rotary Foundation as a beneficiary in their current personal financial and estate plans.

When asked why are you in Rotary, Andy responds by saying:  Joining Rotary is one of the most rewarding decisions I have ever made in my life. You meet so many wonderful people worldwide with a passion to serve communities in so many amazing ways that really do make a difference in the lives of others.

The Dancer and the Devil: Stalin, Pavlova, and the Road to the Great Pandemic

Communism must kill what it cannot control. So for a century, it has killed artists, writers, musicians, and even dancers. It kills them secretly, using bioweapons and poison to escape accountability. Among its victims was Anna Pavlova, history’s greatest dancer, who was said to have God-given wings and feet that never touched the ground. But she defied Stalin, and for that she had to die. Her sudden death in Paris in 1931 was a mystery until now. 

The Dancer and the Devil traces Marxism’s century-long fascination with bioweapons, from the Soviets’ leak of pneumonic plague in 1939 that nearly killed Stalin to leaks of anthrax at Kiev in 1972 and Yekaterinburg in 1979; from the leak of a flu in northeast China in 1977 that killed millions to the catastrophic COVID-19 leak from biolabs in Wuhan, China. Marxism’s dark past must not be a parent to the world’s dark future.

The Dancer and the Devil answers these questions. It tracks a century of Soviet and then Chinese Communist poisons and bioweapons through their development and intentional use on talented artists and heroes like Anna Pavlova, Maxim Gorky, Raoul Wallenberg and Alexis Navalny. It then tracks leaks of bioweapons beginning in Saratov, Russia in 1939 and Soviet Yekaterinburg in 1979 through Chinese leaks concluding in the recent concealed leak of the manufactured bioweapon Covid-19 from the military lab in Wuhan, China. Stalin, Putin, and Xi, perpetrators of these vast crimes against humanity itself, should not be allowed to escape responsibility. This book assembles the facts on these cowardly murderers, calling them to account for their heartless crimes against man concluding in Covid-19.

PS: The author's are planning to stick around after Rotary to talk about the first book which is going to be made into a movie.

Todd A. Hunter was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on August 26, 1953. He attended the University of Kansas (1971-1975) and Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law (1975-1978). Hunter has practiced law since November 1978 in Corpus Christi. Todd and his wife, Alexis Taylor Hunter, have three children: Todd Jr., Michael, and Christina.

Hunter was originally elected to the House of Representatives in 1988 and served four terms. In 2008, Todd returned to the Texas House as the Representative for District 32 where he currently serves and was re-elected in 2020.

Rep. Todd Hunter is currently serving his eleventh term as a state representative after running for re-election in 2020. For the 87th Legislative Session, he was appointed as Chairman to the powerful Redistricting Committee. He also serves on State Affairs and International Relations and Economic Development Committee.
