CHS Jazz Band

About CHS Jazz band Leader: 

Mr. Jaime Vela, is in his 26th year teaching and 5th year as Head Band Director for Calhoun County ISD.  As their director the band has made 5 years of consecutive 1st divisions in Region Marching Competitions and 5 years for Area marching with two years making Finals. His concert band has ranked in Regional and Area competition for the Association of Texas Small Schools: Outstanding Performance Series. Mr. Vela's students have also earned Regional, Area, and State recognition for their All-State Band 

Competition and Solo & Ensemble performances. Mr. Vela has served as a Region Jazz Band Clinician in 2023 and as a Region Mariachi Clinician for 2022 and 2017.  He is a member of the Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Education Association, and Texas Music Adjudicators association.
