Wife – Kellie of 38 years
Son – Rusty Whitaker – married to Bethany
Son – Rance Whitaker – married to Christie
Daughter – Rilea – married to Brandon Sanders
Grandsons – Rhett, Braxton, Ryson
Granddaughters – Taylor Lynn, Briley Ryelle
a. Going into his 36th year of coaching.
b. 25th year as Head Coach
c. 19th year as Head Coach of the Sandcrabs
d. 143 wins at Calhoun High School and 175 over all wins
Coach Whitaker is very proud of many things his teams have accomplished here at Calhoun. Here are a few:
2006 – 1st Calhoun team to make the playoffs in 45 years
2006 – Broke the University of Nebraska’s single game point total in the Alamo Dome which still stands today when the Sandcrabs scored 76 points in their Bi-District game vs. Uvalde.
2011 – Became the first High School Football Team in Texas to have 4 1000 yard rushers in the same backfield in one year.
2013 – Upsetting the defending State Champions, Cedar Park, and advancing on to the State Semi-Finals.
2013 – Led the Nation in rushing with 6,440 yards rushing that season.
10 consecutive state playoff teams at Calhoun from 2006-2015.
2018 - #5 rushing team in the nation.
