Mike Elgin spoke to us on the current status of the expansions at the Point Comfort Formosa facility.

Steve Marwitz

Born in Panama City, Florida the son of a career U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant. He arrived in Texas as fast as he could. Steve finally
reached the pinnacle of his higher education experience at Texas A&M University in Galveston, Texas. Steve graduated from Texas A&M University in 1977 with a B.S. Degree in Marine Biology. Steve started his career as a Marine Fisheries Biologist for the Texas
Parks & Wildlife Department out of Rockport, Texas and eventually ended up in the Calhoun County area. After 13 years as a state employee, he switched occupations and began working for Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas in Point Comfort. He has been with Formosa for 28 years working in the Environmental, Health & Safety Area. Currently, Steve is the Communications Director for Formosa Plastics.

Steve is married to the former Cheryl Knopp of Port Lavaca, Texas. They have four children and thirteen grandchildren.
Steve has been active in the Port Lavaca/Calhoun County community over the years and had the opportunity to be involved with the Chamber of Commerce, City Parks Board, Harbor Board, United Way, Calhoun County Independent School District and First United Methodist Church. Steve has been a member of the Port Lavaca Rotary Club for 27 years.

Mike Elgin

Mike was born and raised is the Baton Rouge, LA. area (Denham Springs, LA.) and moved to Port Lavaca in 1990. Mike currently works for Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas as a Director in the Engineering Construction Group. Mike is married to his wonderful wife Myra for 28 years. They have 2 children Morgan (a nurse at Detar Hospital) and Mason (a financial planner at KMH Wealth Management). When Mike’s not working he enjoys time with his family, playing golf, hunting and fishing.
